Relapse was seriously the dopest shit ever, and I’ve never looked at it like anything but perfection.

My second favorite of his. First is slim shady lp. Hate mm lp. Eminem show is third. Anything after that isn’t the same artist. Not sure if it was Dre dropping him but the rest on the albums are missing the focus. The 3 dimensions became 2. I’m sure death of slim/ Eminem show 2, will be good but I’m sure it’s just a parody of em show

As a big big Big Thief and Adrianne Lenker fan, I’m very glad that you mentioned Anything, and I gotta say that Adrianne is so talented that I could probably dig 5 to 10 songs that I personally think she has written better than this wonderful piece of art

6:19 Beautiful to this day might be my favorite Eminem song.. he has so many amazing songs that if they come on there is a good chance I’ll let them play but even his biggest hits if they come on there is times that I will skip. As far beautiful goes though to this day if it comes on I won’t skip it.

I can definitely say I knew based on the lyrics that the song by Sting is about stalker. Also, I have been a huge 3rd Eye Blind fan since forever and even as a reen knew what Semi-Charmed Life was about. It is actually a very raw and scary song about being addicted to substances and that is one reason why I love 3EB so much. They have these very up-beat songs with horrible lyrics.

Come on man. Do I think this is overall a good album, especially relative to other artists? Yes. But by Eminem's standards? This album was horrible. There's a reason Eminem himself HATES this album. Is it full of great rhyme schemes? Yes. But most of his albums are like 90% great lyrical CONTENT and 10% a bunch of pointless rhyming (which does have a lot of entertainment value). Relapse I feel like is the opposite, completely full of a bunch of total BS. Like, half of the songs are about being a serial killer. Really??? Just desperation to be "edgy" and "controversial" like he was on SSLP/MMLP. Forced and inauthentic and weird. And full of the ridiculous accents. Eminem's early work had a darkness that was real, genuine, and authentic. Off the top of my head without even LOOKING at the tracklist, I can think of FIVE songs where he's rapping about being a serial killer (3am, Stay Wide Awake, Medicine Ball, Music Box, Stay Wide Awake) and there are probably more. It is so redundant, forced, and stupid and that's why EMINEM HIMSELF hates it

You forgot to mention Stairway to Heaven by: Led Zeppelin Growing up I always heard this song and believed it was about someone trying to find a better life or a doorway to a place where life itself is better. But then I got in trouble when I tried playing this song at church on the piano because the song is actually about Suicide.

I love Relapse, it’s one of his album that I bump the most, but lately I had a thought and I cannot unthinking it. What if Eminem condensed Relapse and the Refill disc into one single album? I mean the album is still a solid 8/10, but some tracks are just too silly to be on this dark horrocore journey, so if he took out tracks like Medicine Ball, We Made You, Bagpipes from Baghdad and replaced them with Music Box, Buffalo Bill and My Darling, i think this album would easily be a 10/10 or at least a 9/10. In this way you got a consistent and more coherent overall tone of darkness and devilish vibe sprinkled with bits of humourous but unsettling tracks like My Mom, Insane, Hello and Must be the Ganja. This would have been the order of the tracklist: 1) Dr. West Skit 2) 3 a.m 3) My Mom 4) Insane 5) Hello 6) Buffalo Bill 7) Tonya Skit 8) Same Song and Dance 9) Must be the Ganja 10) Old Time Sake 11) Paul Skit 12) Stay Wide Awake 13) Music Box 14) Crack a Bottle 15) Mr. Mathers Skit 16) Deja Vu 17) Beautiful 18) Steve Berman Skit 19) Underground (without the stupid Ken Keniff ending skit) 20) My Darling

There's a theory that the Novelty song "The Laughing Gnome" By David Bowie is not actually David Bowie's attempt at being whimsical and charming but instead about a Schizophrenic man having a mental breakdown and honestly that makes a lot of sense considering the song ends with David Bowie's laughter devolving into crying.
